The story of Al Zaheda Noorie Trust begins many decades ago, with a young woman who entered marriage in childhood and endured immense hardship. As a single parent and mother, she raised five children through sacrifice — and through it all, she never wavered in her faith in Almighty Allah, nor allowed the remembrance of Imam Husayn (AS) to fade from her heart.
“The Lord has woken up hungry, but never let another sleep hungry.”
She faced hunger, and sold her own clothes to buy food to live. She lived in a single garment, and did daily chores in the households of others to earn a little sustenance — yet she never begged before anyone but Allah, never asked another soul for help, food, or money. She would say that it is Allah who gives life and death; if He wills, we live, and if He wills, we return to Him.
From her own hunger she drew a resolve for others. “I know the pain of hunger, of poverty, of having no education, no help, no guidance,” she would say, “so no one should face the same. Whatever it takes, we must raise one another up with every effort we have.” She taught generations that love for the Ahlul Bayt (AS) is shown not merely in words, but in service.
